About Peace, Ecology & Justice
The Centre for Peace, Ecology and Justice (PEJ) is a part of the Columban Mission Institute. It is committed to advancing the integration of issues of peace, ecology and justice from a global and Christian perspective. The Centre is a resource for the local Church and the wider community. It currently comprises two full-time and two part-time members and benefits from the expertise of associates.
The Centre is able to assist your group with:
- Workshops and speakers on issues connected with peace, ecology and justice within the framework of Catholic Social Teaching;
- Assistance with the integration of aspects of peace, ecology and justice into the school curriculum, both primary and secondary;
- Facilitation of the awareness of mission in the new millennium;
- Making connections with other groups working in the area of peace, ecology and justice;
- Information about issues of peace, ecology and justice;
- The newsletter, Columban Connections.

Centre Personnel
PEJ members are available for the following:
Anne Lanyon, (Co-ordinator)
- Facilitates workshops and reflection days, and resources schools, parish and community groups;
- Speaks on social justice issues;
- Co-ordinates the Sydney Working Group of the Jubilee Australia, Drop the Debt Campaign.
Fr Charles Rue, ssc
- Speaks on Faith and Ecology issues;
- Promotes education and advocacy on issues related genetic modification;
- Prepares written material on Catholic Social Teaching and ecology issues.
Fr John Evans, ssc
- Conducts retreats and reflection days;
- Speaks on mission and justice.
Fr Brendan Hoban, ssc
- Speaks on social justice and faith;
- Speaks on drug, alcohol and behavioural issues.
- Is a drug and alcohol counselor, especially in the Korean community.
