Yesterday evening, December 15 Columban Fr Patrick McInerney (of the Centre for Christian-Muslim Relations) attended a multi-faith prayer vigil for peace at Lakemba Mosque. He joined Muslim and Jewish faith leaders in prayers for peace during the hostage crisis in Sydney that threatened to fan anti-Islam sentiment there.
Fr McInerney, said "Some will use the tragic events which unfolded this morning to confirm their own fears and prejudice. People of faith will use them to strengthen and confirm our commitment to peace and harmony with respect and justice for all in our shared work for the common good."
"We stand committed to multi-cultural and multi-faith harmony!"
