Our Help
You are not alone! Columbans will help you to recognize whether God is calling you to be a Columban Missionary Priest. It is a shared journey of self-discovery that advances through the following stages:
- The Columban Vocations Coordinator will respond to your inquiry. He will arrange to meet you to initiate the process and explain what is involved. In this preliminary stage he will confirm whether you conform to the basic requirements of a prospective Columban vocation outlined above by engaging in conversation with you and asking you to provide the documents necessary to establish that.
- A Columban Priest Companion will be assigned to meet you regularly to introduce you more deeply to the Columban vocation and to help you clarify your own personal calling is missionary priesthood a good fit for you? is this where you belong? is this how you can make your best contribution?
- Vocational assessment by qualified professionals will confirm your physical and psychological suitability for the challenges of missionary life and identify your personal strengths and areas for growth.
- The Columban Admissions Board will consider your application and interview you with a view to making a decision on accepting you into the Columban Formation Program.
N.B. This journey is not a binding 'contract'. There is no compulsion. You are free to withdraw at any stage. But there are established criteria that you will have to meet and conditions that you will have to fulfil to advance through the process, and failure or refusal to do complete these will likely jeopardise your request to join the Columbans.
