Celebrating 60 years

We congratulate Fr Hubert (Hub) Hunter on 60 years of dedication to God and St Columban’s Mission Society.
Fr Hub was ordained by Archbishop Daniel Mannix at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne, on July 24, 1949. He was appointed to Japan in 1950. He spent his life in parish work in Japan and Australia.
Ill-health forced him to return to Australia in 1992. Fr Hub was assistant pastor at St Mary’s, East St Kilda, until he retired to St Columban’s, Essendon in 2006.
At present he is being cared for by the Little Sisters of the Poor at Thornbury.
