'Change The World' Camera Competition
"Change the World" Camera Competition
During World Youth Day the Columbans and three other missionary congregations hosted a stall at the Vocations Expo. Our common theme was "Missionaries to the Nations". We had a "Change the World" competition with two questions.
- The first question was "What is the Latin translation of "to the nations" which expresses the international missionary charism? The answer is "Ad Gentes" (which is also the Latin title of Vatican II's Decree on the Church's Missionary Activity).
- The second question was to guess the total amount of change that pilgrims and visitors to the Vocations Expo donated in the special box provided in the missionary stall. The minimal guess was $1.00, and the most extravagant guess was $122,000.000!!! But the actual amount was $266.00.
Of the 256 entries received, 51 either gave the wrong answer to the first question, or failed to answer the second question. Of the 205 correct answers, the three nearest to the total amount of change donated each win a Canon IXUS 860 IS digital camera. And the winners are:
- Elaine Phang of Frenchs Forest, Australia
- Herman Gara of Riverwood, Australia
- Dexter Escuadro of Macquarie Fields, Australia
Congratulations to each of the three winners. We hope you enjoy taking pictures with your new camera, and that as you follow your personal vocation in life you are able to bring about the changes that you want to see in the world.
