St Columbans Mission Society in New Zealand celebrated the Centenary Mass on the 27 July 2018. It was held at St Peter and Paul's church, Lower Hutt, on the 75th anniversary of the death of Fr Francis Douglas, the first NZ Columban to die. He was tortured and killed in the Philippines in 1943 and his body has never been found.
