A Christmas wish

Dear Friends and Supporters

I hope you have a graced and restful Christmas. May you know the blessing and promise of Jesus’ birth as life and love are born again in our hearts.

Thanks to all our benefactors. Your generosity has given happiness and possibilities to the people we live and work with throughout the world.

Thanks also to our friends who share our vision and work with us to build a just and sustainable world. We are especially grateful to the hundreds of people who joined us in the day of prayer and fasting for the release of Father Michael Sinnott, the Columban who was kidnapped for 31 days in Mindanao. You will be happy to know that he was released and is now recovering with his family in Ireland.

This year we chose as our Christmas image this photo of a Peruvian mother and child from high in the Andes. I think it captures the spirit of Christmas. I was struck by the joy and pride on the mother’s face and the cheeky big eyes of her child full of wonder and promise. So very human!

I hope you have time to reflect on your own humanity and can embrace and appreciate the humanity of others, especially those who are so different that we sometimes fear them. Let us celebrate the feast of Christmas when God became human like us.
