Dear Columban Friend,
“Jesus is the light who brightens the darkness” Pope Francis
In his homily at the Christmas Night Mass last year, Pope Francis said “this night, the spirit of darkness enfolds the world.”
This Christmas, the darkness will be brightened for Naajia, shown in the image below. She will be living in a new home lit by a small solar panel in the southern part of Sindh province, Pakistan. Naajia has never experienced light in the dark.
Through your generous support and encouragement, Columban Fr Shay Cullen continues to advocate for human rights, to save children from sexual abuse in the Philippines and to give them a new life of dignity and self-esteem. In Peru, Columbans continue working to strengthen the social skills of women and working mothers so that they can better protect their family and children. In China and Korea, you have helped us in planning for the future as we witness a growth in vocations to the priesthood.
I ask you to support the Christmas Appeal to ensure that Christ’s message of light in the darkness will become a reality for those who are hungry, poverty stricken and lonely. To read more inspiring and moving stories about how your support and donation to the Columban mission enriches the lives of others please read the latest issue of The Far East magazine and Mission News & Views newsletter.
Mission is never over
Your contribution to the Christmas Appeal will support Columbans to go to people of other cultures and religions and share our experience of the Good News of Jesus Christ.
May God’s blessing be upon you and your family this Christmas.
With every blessing,
Fr Gary Walker
Australia and New Zealand
