New appointment for Columban Fr Robert McCulloch

Columban Fr Robert McCullochPope Francis has appointed Australian Columban Fr Robert McCulloch as a consultor to the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments.

Fr McCulloch has a doctorate in Liturgy from the Pontifical Liturgical Institute in Rome and taught Liturgy at the National Catholic Institute of Theology in Karachi Pakistan for twenty-five years.

He leads the translation committee in Pakistan which has translated into Urdu the rites for the celebration of the sacraments (approved 1999-2001) and the Catechism of the Catholic Church (approved 2014) and which will begin work on the Urdu translation of the Roman Missal in April 2017.

He facilitated the procedure for the approval of the Fijian translation of the Roman Missal (2015).

Fr Robert McCulloch is based in Rome as Procurator-General of the Missionary Society of St. Columban and Procurator-General of the Mission Society of the Philippines. 

Fr Kevin O'Neill, Superior General of the Missionary Society of St Columban wrote:

Robert will bring to this role his vast knowledge and experience of teaching in this area of the life of the church.
