The Maryknoll religious community in Westchester County and The Missionaries of Charity in The Bronx has been hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

Sadly, three nuns and 10 priests have passed away at the Maryknoll religious community in Ossining, and dozens of others have tested positive for COVID-19.

30 of the 300 sisters live at the Maryknoll Center in Ossining have now tested positive along with 10 staff members. At the nearby seminary where the Maryknoll fathers and brothers live, 10 priests have died, two had tested positive, and the others had symptoms.

The Maryknoll sisters have started an online appeal to raise funds to meet medical and cleaning costs.

The Missionaries of Charity, founded by St. Teresa of Calcutta, who has a home in the New York City borough of The Bronx, have lost at least two sisters to COVID-19.
