Christians throughout the world have been celebrating the Season of Creation throughout the month of September, focusing on the invitation to join prayers and efforts in rivulets flowing into a great river of justice and peace. The words of the Prophet Amos are an inspiration, “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5:24.)
On the World Day of Prayer for Creation, September 1st, the first day of the month-long celebration, Caritas Australia via the long-running Catholic Earthcare program, launched their “Australian Guide to Laudato Si Action Planning” for the Church community. Catholic Earthcare have been tasked by the Australian Catholic Bishops with leading the response to support parishes, dioceses, educational institutions and organisations to join the Laudato Si’ Action Platform by 2024 and develop a Laudato Si’ Action Plan. The Bishops released the first two years of their own Laudato Si Action Plan on June 5th 2023, World Environment Day.
