The day was filled with joy and celebration, bringing together friends and advocates from around the world. Pope Leo’s message emphasised the need to move from data to engaging with people's hearts. He highlighted the importance of living authentically and freely, especially in the context of environmental challenges.
Both agreed that while scientific data is important, it’s essential to connect emotionally with individuals and communities affected by climate change. The focus should be on policies as well as on the human experience and the broader environment, including biodiversity.
The heartfelt performance by Pacific Island youths encapsulated this sentiment, as it resonated with thoughts of home and family, illustrating the real impacts of climate change. Cultural expressions like song and dance are vital to preserving identities and livelihoods, and the power of the arts must not be overlooked, especially in fostering hope.
