The change of federal government leadership last year brought a welcome change of language, from polemics to engagement, from divisiveness to inclusiveness. It is the type of positive change that we need to foster across the spectrum of Christian-Muslim engagements.
In this issue of Bridges:
- The editorial addresses the hurt and the healing that arises from how Christians and Muslims talk and write about each other (page 1)
- Mercy is central to both Islam and Christianity and should guide our conduct towards each other (page 5)
- Statistics show that Muslims are NOT responsible for most terrorist attacks or acts of violence (pages 6-7)
- The Marrakesh Declaration details Muslim responsibility to protect the rights of minorities living among them (pages 8-9)
- Visiting each other’s places of worship shows interest and receiving visits shows hospitality (page 10)
- The Golden Rule is a shared value which guides how we should treat each other (page 11)
- News from the Centre tells snippets of what we have been doing (pages 2-3)
- News from the World tells stories of what has been happening around the world (pages 3-4)
We also welcome Steff Fenton, who joins us in the Centre for Christian-Muslim Relations!
We wish our Christian readers a blessed, happy and holy celebration of Holy Week and Easter!
