Faith is not done

“The actual organisation of the people is conducive to Catholic life in a certain way because they all live in small communities. There might be 50 families or there might be up to 400 families who form a native community and they run their own organisation". (more)

Ordination misadventures

My parents were informed, of course, of what was happening but it was impossible to notify all relatives and friends of this change to the timetable. They were in Dunedin but where was John Griffin? (more)

Ears to hear

Having a deaf person in the home was seen as a shame on the family. If you visited a home where there was a deaf person they would be kept out of sight in the back room. You’d never find out that they were even there. (more)

Confession Chinese style

I could not help reflecting on how strange it was that a non Christian should feel the need to unburden himself to a priest when so many Catholics have rejected confession as a futile exercise and have taken to paying large fees to therapists and counselors to obtain a listening ear. (more)

Reflection - Reverence

If people with such human faults and weaknesses were able to embrace a great vision like bringing the faith to China and do the great things they had done in different parts of the world then there was hope for me. (more)
