Mission Appeals

2024 Columban Mid-Year Appeal

Give, even if you only have a little.
For in giving, we sow the seeds of hope that flourish into abundance for all.

Saint Mother Teresa

We have been wonderfully busy over the past month, and I am delighted to share some joyous news with you. We celebrated the ordination of two new Columban priests. Fr Iowane Naio was ordained in Suva, Fiji, on April 10, and Fr Nbwi la Aung Francis Xavier was ordained on May 1, in Myanmar. We are thrilled to see them begin their new ministries and make a positive impact on the lives of those they serve.

Columban Fr Eamon Sheridan recently reported from Myanmar, highlighting the pressing needs of our students. Currently, our students in the boarding houses receive two rice meals a day, but unfortunately, we are unable to provide lunch due to the high costs of food. Despite the generosity of the local farms, which provide tomatoes, potatoes, bamboo shoots, mustard greens, pumpkins, and watercress during the harvest season, the cost of transporting additional crops and groceries from the city of Myitkyina to the country areas where our students live, remains prohibitively high.

Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to achieving our goal of offering better sustenance and care to the vulnerable in the fifteen countries we serve. Your generosity will directly impact their daily needs.

I ask you to use the options below to support the Columban Mission Appeal.

Thank you for your continued generosity and prayers. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many and continue to spread the message of love, hope, and faith.
