Three new priests and a deacon for the Columbans

Columban Ordinations

On November 15, Bishop Paul Lee Kyung Sang LEE, D.D. presided over the ordination ceremony of Fr Joseph Park Yosup, Fr Joseph Seong Yoseob, and Fr Ambrosio Sim Hongseok as Columban priests, and Dn Verano Lee Jeongrak a deacon at the Myeongdong Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Seoul, South Korea.

The ceremony brought together family, friends, and parishioners who came to support and celebrate these newly ordained as they take on their new roles within the Society.

In his address during the ceremony, Columban Society Vicar Fr Peter O'Neill thanked the newly ordained for their generosity of heart in responding to God's invitation to be ordained as Columban priests and deacon and thanked their parents, who were the first teachers in their faith and have supported them in their missionary journey.

Being sent by the Korean church, the newly ordained will embrace a new life overseas. Fr Park and Fr Seong have been assigned to the region of South America, where they will minister in Chile, and Fr Sim has been assigned to Taiwan. They will continue to seek a missionary spirituality characterised by a sensitive listening to the spirit, speaking through peoples of other religions and cultures and a call to live in solidarity with the poor and the exploited Earth.
