This Month - March 2015

We have introduced some changes in the Centre for Peace, Ecology and Justice. This is the first edition of the new style Columban E-Connections which is completely electronic.  No more hard copies in order to help save the forests (as well as our costs). What’s more it will come out monthly instead of tri-annually and will feature the regular sections of Reflection on Scripture, Peace Ecology and Justice news from Australia and overseas, Centre News about our work, the Culture of Peace Bulletin for parish and school newsletters, and Take Action for your participation.

Lent is a time for change, an opportunity for new beginnings. Whether the new beginnings are for the good or the not so good depends on their impacts and will be judged against the passage of time. In this month’s Centre News you can read about our new staff member, Hannah Cifuentes who will be helping with the Faith Ecology Network (FEN). In Peace Ecology and Justice, we feature some good global news about debt but some not so good news about the winding back of environmental protection in Australia.

A big change for us has been moving from Strathfield to Level 8, 23 Berry St, North Sydney. Please note our new postal address, PO Box 968, North Sydney 2059. Our email and phone details are still the same. We welcome your feedback on this new E-Connections as we welcome visitors to our office.

Connections - Reflection  Reflection
We need to change ourselves first. Like Peter, we too struggle with the idea of finding or seeing God in the ordinary. To really see God in the ordinary, and in ways unfamiliar - and to really believe it - means discerning what it is we need to change in ourselves first. (read more)
Peace, Ecology and Justice Peace, Ecology and Justice
The importance placed on economic growth and competition policy by Australia and other Western nations is damaging people, communities and ecological systems. The good news is that globally, agreement has been reached at the United Nations to work towards dealing more fairly with the onerous debt burden of countries which caused suffering for many.
