Columban E-ConnectionsConnecting Peace, Ecology and Justice from the Gospel Perspective

This Month - October 2015

Hannah Cifuentes is a staff member of the Columban Centre for Peace, Ecology & Justice.Times change, so at the beginning of 2015, our PEJ Centre moved to a monthly electronic newsletter. We recently took a look back at the old hard copy Columban Connections which first started in August 2002. Hannah Cifuentes who joined us in late January found it really interesting, so she jotted down her observations. Thus we have decided to devote the last three editions of E-Connections for 2015 to looking back at the issues we have been working on, how they have evolved over those 13 years and where they are heading at this time. In this edition, we look at how our collaboration with Jubilee Australia has evolved.

PEJ’s original collaboration was with Jubilee’s Drop the Debt Campaign calling for debt cancellation. More recently, Jubilee Australia has focused on research and lobbying in relation to the Australian Government’s accountability for its economic activity in South East Asian countries, especially involvement in the mining industry. The articles in this issue show the formidable results of this hard work.
