This Month - April 2017
Peace, Ecology and Justice are not add-ons to life as a Christian, nor are they isolated. They are integral to life in Christ, and interconnected as three prongs of the one missionary endeavour of collaborating for bringing about God’s reign in the world.

Our Centre has been dedicated to this one missionary endeavour since it first began in 1997. At that time, Fr Michael Gormly asked, “What is happening in God’s world today? Why so much violence? How do we link our peacemaking to our missionary vision? Can we identify sources of hope for the poor and the next generation? Where are the prophetic voices promoting justice today? How do we help promote fullness of life and harmony with God’s creation?”

Now, 20 years later, the needs are still there. Now we have the leadership of Pope Francis to inspire and animate people in the Church and everywhere with his encyclical, “Laudato Si’: On Care for our Common Home” and his World Day of Peace Message 2017, “Nonviolence: A Style of Politics for Peace”. Our PEJ Centre will close in October and others will continue this mission.

In this final edition of E-Connections as we continue to wind down some activities and transition some of our programs, we feature a brief overview of some aspects of our work which involves dialogue. The PEJ Centre has reached out in the public square to dialogue with the Church, with other faiths, and with groups in civil society. (Read: The Third Chapter in the History of the PEJ Centre).

We wish to thank all those groups and people we have worked with over the last twenty years for your friendship, inspiration and the knowledge we have gained through you. We pray for continued blessings on your wonderful work. Let this not be an ending but a new chapter in a new beginning. “To make an end is to make a beginning." TS Eliot

Peace and Blessings
