Cross-Cultural Activities

Columban Fathers and the Sisters of Saint Joseph sponsor a cross-cultural seminar every January for people returning from mission, newly arrived in Australia and preparing for cross-cultural mission. It is held annually at Saint Joseph’s in Baulkham Hills, New South Wales, Australia.

Columban Fr Brian Vale and Sr Annie Bond RSJ direct the programme and Columban Fr Noel Connolly from the Columban Centre for Mission Studies is one of the lecturers.

Fr Brian Vale SSC is a member of the Centre for Mission Studies and Centre for Christian-Muslim RelationsFr Brian Vale SSC
Fr Brian Vale is the Regional Director of St Columbans Mission Society for Australia and New Zealand. His interest in cross-cultural studies led to a MA in Comparative Culture from Sophia University, Tokyo. He has worked in Columban Society Formation as a Spiritual Director and has a particular interest in the Spirituality of Dialogue.

Fr Noel Connolly SSC is the Coordinator of the Centre for Mission StudiesFr Noel Connolly SSC
Fr Noel Connolly is the Coordinator of the Centre for Mission Studies. He is a member of the Columban Mission Institute in Sydney, Head of Mission and Culture at the Broken Bay Institute and Lectures in Mission at the Catholic Institute of Sydney. He has worked in many Australian Dioceses in programmes to welcome, enable and help integrate overseas priests and religious.
