As overseas missionaries, Columbans have experienced something of the dislocation migrants feel and we also have learnt some of their languages. For some years now, Columban Missionaries have worked with Korean and Spanish speaking migrants, as well, we work with Mandarin and Cantonese speaking Catholic communities in Sydney.
Columban Fr Noel Connolly from the Columban Mission Institute's Centre for Mission Studies has been a consultant and lecturer welcoming, enabling and integrating overseas born and trained priests and religious. He has given workshops across Australia in Broken Bay, Lismore, Maitland, Parramatta (NSW), Brisbane, Cairns, Rockhampton, Townsville (QLD), Melbourne (VIC) and Perth (WA) and particpated at seminars for newly arrived religious sponsored by Catholic Religious Australia.
Columbans, Fr Noel Connolly and Fr Brian Vale are also involved in Cross-Cultural Activities and an annual workshop for overseas born and trained priests and religious held at Saint Joseph’s in Baulkham Hills, New South Wales, Australia.
