Serving a Wounded World in Interreligious Solidarity

Serving a Wounded World in Interreligious Solidarity

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue (PCID) released a joint document, “Serving a Wounded World in Interreligious Solidarity: A Christian Call to Reflection and Action During COVID-19.” Its purpose is to encourage churches and Christian organisations to reflect on the importance of interreligious solidarity in a world wounded by the COVID-19 pandemic. The document offers a Christian basis for interreligious solidarity that can inspire and confirm the impulse to serve a world wounded not only by COVID-19 but also by many other wounds.” World Council of Churches

This recently-published document is very well-written, in simple and very accessible English. It is well worth the time and effort to familiarise yourself with this latest interfaith document. It is a great summary of the Christian approach to interfaith relations.

The document concludes with a call to follow Jesus Christ who came not to be served but to serve (Matthew 20:28), as we start to serve a world wounded by COVID-19 through ecumenical and interreligious solidarity. It invites to open our hearts in dialogue and our hands in solidarity and to build together a world marked by healing and hope.
