The first International Women’s Day occurred in 1911 with a gathering that grew out of women’s movements in Europe and the women’s suffrage movement in the United Kingdom. This year International Women’s Day continues to inspire more inclusion.
International Women’s Day (March 8th) celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political accomplishments of women and also highlights disparities and the work that still needs to be done. Actions to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and value the perspectives of women from all walks of life are a focus to further women’s participation and achievements.
