This issue of Bridges looks at our human response to disasters. Some disasters are "natural" and beyond our control but we are responsible for others which are caused by our bad choices. All religions call for us to be compassionate and just in our relationships.
We feature the worldwide response to Pope Francis proclaiming September 7th as a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria (p.4-5).
We noted several Muslim Charities' responses to the recent NSW bushfires (p.6).
We included two multifaith media statements: one on asylum seekers (p.7) and the other on the anti-Semitic incident in Sydney (p.5).
