2022 Columban Mid-Year Appeal
"Let us ask the Lord to give us the gentleness to look upon the poor with understanding and love, devoid of human calculation and fear."
The war in Ukraine is so appalling. To see cities and villages destroyed is horrifying. We feel so useless in the face of such horror. There are many places across our world where people suffer from war, hunger, and desperate living conditions. Many Columban Missionaries face these challenges every day.
In the rural areas of Myanmar, children living in remote villages walk for miles at the beginning of each week to get to school, where they sleep in a poor dormitory away from family before returning home for the weekend. Columban Missionaries provide support for these children and teachers. In Chile there are many people facing terrible lives. Venezuelans, who have had to flee from their own country because the economy there is broken, walk for weeks to get to Chile. Columban Missionaries provide basic support to these people while they try to find employment. We also received reports from the Philippines, Peru and Fiji, where Columbans also work.
I ask you to use the options below to support the Columban Mid-Year Appeal to assist with our missionary work in countries such as Myanmar and Chile.
With every blessing,
Fr Peter O’Neill
